Nigel and his mechanics did great job on my Evinrude G2 which had problems with steering and reverse since day none , which nobody could fixit. Finally i am enjoying my boat again.
Recently I was in for my 300 hour service on my G2 300 Evinrude’s and I have to say this place is first class! The staff is friendly and very accommodating with customer service being their number 1 priority. There was a mix-up with my haul day to get the boat on the Hard and needles to say I was more than impressed with how everything was handled. Over the course of the service I popped by at night to see how things were coming along and the technicians took the time to talk to me, and show me some things they were working on while working on another project late at night to get that client back in the water as soon as possible. To often people in the service industry take advantage of the fact that you have no choice and there will always be another customer so client retention is not their concern, nor is customer service. I can tell you from personal experience this is NOT the case with the Team at South Island Marine. Tremendous experience and will only work with them from here on for all my boating mechanical needs. I look forward to working with them again. As a side note, if you have been thinking about repowering I would Highly recommend the new Evinrude etec for which they are also a dealer I believe. The power and fuel economy are beyond anything I could have hoped for (600 hp uses less than my single 225 on a much smaller boat), while producing very low emissions and a sexy customizable sport look. They will not disappoint!
South Island Marine Ltd. has been my ‘go to’ mechanical experts for the past 10 years. They service and install all manner of equipment from anchor winches to generators to inverters to watermakers, you name it. In particular, they have learned all about my Detroit 6-71 turbo diesels and do a great job in that regard too. South Island Marine provides instant, courteous, consistent, friendly and expert work at a reasonable price on all manner of marine repairs and Southern Vancouver Island boaters are lucky to have them around!
